Michael (Mike) Ragan retired in 2020 as Chief of the Texas A&M University Police Department, concluding a distinguished career spanning over 40 years in higher education and county law enforcement. He is a graduate of Texas A&M University and the FBI National Academy.
Throughout his career, Chief Ragan held several leadership roles, including serving on the Board of Directors for the International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators (IACLEA) and as President of the Texas Association of College and University Police Administrators. He was also an active member of the Council of Texas A&M University System Law Enforcement Administrators and the Central Texas Police Academy Advisory Board.
Chief Ragan contributed to campus safety through his service on the University Special Situations Team and the Expressive Activity Committee. He coordinated security for a wide range of events—from intimate gatherings to major events with attendance exceeding 100,000—as well as visits from U.S. Presidents, foreign dignitaries, and high-profile performers.
