Following a crisis it is important to reflect on the event. Were you adequately prepared? How well did you respond? What changes need to be made in preparation, plans, and training to be ready for the next emergency?
We help colleges and universities identify what works well and what needs to be changed, leading to continuous growth. This is accomplished through:
After Action Reviews
A structured, facilitated process following a campus emergency that gathers feedback from responders and impacted parties, assesses preparations to handle this type of emergency, evaluates the response to the emergency, and identifies areas for improvement. After Action Reviews may occur immediately following an emergecy in the form of a debriefing. A more detailed After Action Review may occur at a later date and be more comprehensive.
After Action Reports
A comprehensive, formal, written document that repesents findings and recommendations from a structured review of response to an emergency. The report typically summarizes the After Action Review, but may include additional reviews and inquiries regarding response to a crisis. It provides a detailed record of what occurred, evaluates the effectiveness of preparation for the emergency and the actions taken, and makes recommendations for future actions.
Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) Reviews
A structured process that tests the current EOP against best practices, recent developments, and how the institution's response to emergencies has differed from the plan to ensure that the plan remains current, effective, and capable of coordinating a swift and organized response to various types of emergencies.
Training Reviews
An assessment of the effectiveness, relevance, and thoroughness of an institution's training programs designed to prepare staff and stakeholders for campus emergencies.
