Aaron Woodruff has served as Chief of Police at Illinois State University since 2011 and brings over 25 years of combined experience in municipal and higher education law enforcement. He is a graduate of the University of Illinois Police Training Institute, the Illinois Law Enforcement Executive Institute, the Florida Crime Prevention Institute, and the FBI National Academy.
Chief Woodruff is a respected instructor in key areas such as implicit bias, procedural justice, and violence prevention, preparedness, and response. He also serves as a Master Trainer for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s National Threat Evaluation and Reporting (NTER) program, focused on the prevention of targeted violence.
He has twice served as Co-Chair of the Minority and Police Partnership of McLean County and maintains strong collaborative ties with the local NAACP chapter. Currently, he serves as President of the Illinois Campus Law Enforcement Administrators and sits on the Executive Board of the Illinois Association of Chiefs of Police.
Throughout his career, Chief Woodruff has received numerous awards and honors, including a 2016 invitation to the White House in recognition of his leadership and contributions to public safety.
